Otis won against McClave on Monday with 19 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Wiley Panthers with a sharp 19-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won ten contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Gavin Price made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). In other batting news, Otis got a massive performance out of Tayte Smith, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits Smith has posted since back in March. JJ Ward was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Otis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wiley only posted an OBP of .375.
The victory made it two in a row for Otis and bumps their season record up to 12-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.0 runs over those games. As for Wiley, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-11-1.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Otis beat the Panthers by a score of 18-1 later that day.
