Basketball Recap: Keeton Tomasko's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Yulee over Lake Weir

Yulee's tournament run continued when they took on Lake Weir on Thursday. The Yulee Hornets took a 65-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lake Weir Hurricanes. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Yulee's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keeton Tomasko, who went 8 of 13 on his way to 19 points. Tomasko is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Chase Cannone, who went 7 for 14 en route to 20 points and three steals.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lake Weir to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alcarlos Richard, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. John Smith was another key player, going 5 of 9 on his way to 13 points.

Yulee's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Lake Weir, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Yulee and Baker County will round out the year against one another at at 7:30 p.m. on December 27th. Yulee is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.3 points per game this season. As for Lake Weir, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against West Port at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. West Port has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
