The Whitefield Academy Lions will head out on the road to take on the Blue Ridge Christian Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Whitefield Academy proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 32) but on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 48-45 victory over The Daniel Academy. Given Whitefield Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 187th, while the Lions are ranked 405th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Blue Ridge Christian scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 75-50 margin over Heritage Christian. With Blue Ridge Christian ahead 54-32 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Blue Ridge Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Pennbrook Shaver led the charge by scoring 33 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Shaver has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kaleb Price, who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds.
Whitefield Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Blue Ridge Christian, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Whitefield Academy came up short against the Warriors in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 73-69. Can Whitefield Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
