Even though the Alcester-Hudson Cubs have not done well against the West Sioux Falcons recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Alcester-Hudson strolled past West Sioux with points to spare, taking the game 53-36. Given Alcester-Hudson's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 80th in South Dakota, while West Sioux is ranked 352nd in Iowa), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Alcester-Hudson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dominic Van egdom, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. Van egdom is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Mateo Kleinhans was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Alcester-Hudson now has a winning record of 2-1. As for West Sioux, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.
Alcester-Hudson's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Canton at 7:45 p.m. on December 19th. One thing working in Canton's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. West Sioux is on the road again on Monday and play against Kingsley-Pierson/River Valley on December 18th. Kingsley-Pierson/River Valley is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
