Cotopaxi is 7-1 against Antonito since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Cotopaxi Pirates will look to defend their home court against the Antonito Trojans at 12:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Saturday, it was a hard-fought game, but Cotopaxi had to settle for a 53-51 loss against Moffat.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Terrance Evans, who scored 16 points along with 5 blocks. He scored a full 31.4% of Cotopaxi's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Winkler, who scored 10 points.
Meanwhile, Antonito's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 48-28 defeat at the hands of Creede.
Jasiah Jiron put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 12 points along with 6 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Antonito were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Creede only pulled down seven.
The wins kept both teams' perfect 1-1 season records intact.
Cotopaxi took their win against Antonito when the teams last played back in December of 2022 by a conclusive 52-32. Will Cotopaxi repeat their success, or does Antonito have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
