South Sevier is 8-2 against Grand County since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The South Sevier Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Grand County Red Devils at 5:30 p.m. Hopefully South Sevier focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Tuesday.
South Sevier pushed their score all the way to 80, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 89-80 hit to the loss column at the hands of Manti. South Sevier has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite their defeat, South Sevier saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Slade Summerhays, who scored 15 points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaggar Redd, who scored 18 points.
Even though they lost, South Sevier were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Manti only posted 22.
Meanwhile, Grand County took their match at home on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 88-38 victory over Monticello. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 41-13.
Grand County can attribute much of their success to Lane Berry, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 15 rebounds. The match was Berry's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Trace York, who scored 8 points along with 11 rebounds and 3 steals.
South Sevier now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Grand County, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: South Sevier hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 66.3 points per game. It's a different story for Grand County, though, as they've been averaging only 72.3 per game. The only thing between South Sevier and another offensive beatdown is Grand County.
