In what's become a running theme this season, Carrizo Springs gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They blew past Somerset 65-42. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Carrizo Springs has posted since December 7, 2023.
Carrizo Springs relied on the efforts of Melanie Davila, who scored 14 points along with six assists and six rebounds, and Adisyn Reyes, who scored 23 points along with six assists and three steals. Davila also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ysella Hinojosa, who scored two points along with ten rebounds and five blocks.
Meanwhile, Pearsall's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They were dealt a 74-20 defeat at the hands of Floresville. While losing is never fun, Pearsall can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1324th, while Floresville is ranked 443rd).
Carrizo Springs' win bumped their record up to 20-11. As for Pearsall, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Carrizo Springs against Pearsall in their previous meeting on January 2nd as the squad secured a 56-16 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Carrizo Springs since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
