After losing to the Southside Tigers the last time they met, the Clinton Red Devils decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Clinton came out on top against Southside by a score of 32-22 on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Clinton.
It was another big night for Bryanna Belton, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Mylayja Thompson, who scored six points.
Clinton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Southside, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-2.
Clinton will be home for the holidays to greet Newberry at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Newberry will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 213th, while Clinton is ranked 41st). Southside will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Greenville at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Greenville is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
