Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cole). They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Poteet Aggies on Friday, sneaking past 15-13. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cougars considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Cole saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joseph Zinnante, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Zinnante has posted since back in April of 2024. Nathon Giardine was another, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Cole always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Cole's win bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Poteet, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10-1.
Looking ahead, Cole will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Canyon Lake at 12:00 p.m. The last three games Cole has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Poteet will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Jourdanton at 7:00 p.m. on March 25th.
