After a string of three wins, the Pickens County Tornadoes's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 66-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Aliceville. Pickens County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Aliceville apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Leading Aliceville to victory were Tyquan Simon and Keanthony Wilder. Simon scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and two steals, while Wilder scored 30 points along with six rebounds. Wilder continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Tony Stewart was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Pickens County bumped their record down to 4-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Aliceville, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.
Pickens County will head out on the road to challenge Holy Spirit Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Aliceville, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Marion at 7:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alabama (Marion is ranked 232nd, while Aliceville is ranked 234th).
