A feisty cat fight will be fought as Colbert Heights Wildcats challenge Deshler Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Colbert Heights's pitching crew has only allowed 1.7 runs per game this season, so Deshler's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Colbert Heights' usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Thursday's struggle, when Mars Hill Bible hitters got past them. Colbert Heights lost 12-5 to Mars Hill Bible last Thursday. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Autumn Willis was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Taryn Wagnon, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one triple.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Wednesday Deshler sidestepped Morton for a 7-5 victory.
Taylor Tittle made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed over her last seven games. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Makayla Willingham and Malaya Jackson did most of the damage at the plate: Willingham went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double, while Jackson went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Jackson's first of the season. Havah Standridge was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Deshler hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in three consecutive matchups.
Deshler is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. Colbert Heights' loss dropped their record down to 15-2.
Colbert Heights suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Deshler in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Colbert Heights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
