Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Sullivan proved: they limited Owen Valley to a paltry two yards per carry. The team can thank William Hollifield for the heroic effort on defense: he. Sullivan didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 11.5.
Sullivan's defense didn't let Parker Greene, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for five sacks. Eli Van Ness was especially locked on to Owen Valley's QB and sacked him twice. Sullivan received some extra help from Jaden Norris, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Meanwhile, Edgewood fell victim to Beech Grove and their airtight defense on Friday. They took a 12-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hornets. Having soared to a lofty 35 points in the game before, the Mustangs' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Sullivan's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-3. As for Edgewood, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.
Friday's contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: French and Braxton Carpenter. French just won't slow down this season and has run in 5 touchdowns while averaging 119.2 rushing yards per game. Carpenter has been a dominant force too and has averaged 109.5 rushing yards per game.
Everything came up roses for Sullivan against Edgewood when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 54-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Arrows since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
