Rye is 0-7 against Manitou Springs since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Rye Thunderbolts will be playing in front of their home fans against the Manitou Springs Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Rye focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday.
Rye put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season. They breezed by Ellicott on the road to the tune of 66-34. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-17.
Rye can attribute much of their success to Brandon Benz, who scored 23 points, and Eli Guzman, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Guzman has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jay Graham, who scored three points along with nine assists and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Manitou Springs ended up a good deal behind Buena Vista on Tuesday and lost 56-41.
The win makes it two in a row for Rye and bumps their season record up to 11-5. As for Manitou Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.
