The Chase County Longhorns fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Hershey Panthers on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 48-47 to the Panthers. Chase County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Hershey apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Hershey found their leader in underclassman Payton Jones, who scored 16 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Emma Hall, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Chase County's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Hershey, their win bumped their record up to 10-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chase County will face off against Southern Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southern Valley is coming into the game hot, having won their last 13 games. Hershey's road trip will continue as they head out to face Kearney Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th.
