The White Pine Bobcats will venture away from home to face off against the Wells Leopards at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
White Pine made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Needles, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Bobcats fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 16-14 on Friday. While the Bobcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Mustangs 4-0 in the first period.
Cecilia Barbosa stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 3-for-5 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Camden Johnson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, Wells came tearing into Tuesday's contest with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Vandals 16-1. The result was nothing new for the Leopards, who have now won 13 games by nine runs or more so far this season.
Adriana Aguilar was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. She is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jitzel Rivas, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and four runs.
Wells always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .636 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Wells' win bumped their record up to 14-3. As for White Pine, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-6.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. White Pine has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. However, it's not like Wells struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.1 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went White Pine's way against Wells in their previous meeting back in March of 2025, as White Pine made off with a 16-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bobcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
