Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Grapeland). They walked away with a 77-69 victory over the Lovelady Lions on Friday. The win was nothing new for the Sandies as they're now sitting on three straight.
Grapeland had a senior duo take command as Maleek Johnson gained 348 total yards and five touchdowns and Sean Walker rushed for 237 yards and four TDs while picking up 11.3 yards per carry. Johnson really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run. Diego Fajardo got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Grapeland was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 585 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 179 rushing yards in 11 consecutive games dating back to last season.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Grapeland's defensive line and their three sacks. Leading the way was Jesse Ellington with two. Fajardo got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
