Basketball Recap: Kenley Cornelius' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Tri over Richmond

Tri has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 46-44 heartbreaker at the hands of the Richmond Red Devils. The Titans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Red Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Tri's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kenley Cornelius, who posted 13 points and three blocks. That's the most blocks Cornelius has posted since back in November of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Nakaya Cridge, who scored seven points and 11 boards.

Tri's loss dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Richmond, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season.

Tri will head out to take on New Castle at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tri is facing New Castle at the right time seeing as New Castle is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Richmond, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-45 defeat against Charlestown on the 18th.
