Bruton hasn't had much luck against Lafayette recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Bruton Panthers will venture away from home to challenge the Lafayette Rams at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Bruton will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Poquoson, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Bruton skirted past Poquoson 41-39. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Zymeia Taliaferro was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards. Taliaferro is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Alyssa Turner was another key player, putting up ten points.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Lafayette beat Tabb 40-34 on Tuesday.
Lafayette's win came from a few key players Bruton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kenzie Charity, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. That's the most boards she has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was MaKayla Keys, who posted six points and four steals.
Lafayette pushed their record up to 5-4 with the win, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.9 points per game. As for Bruton, they now also have a winning record of 5-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Bruton has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Lafayette struggles in that department as they've been averaging 21 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Bruton might still be hurting after the 61-39 defeat they got from Lafayette in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Lafayette's Dynasti Pierce, who almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine rebounds. Now that Bruton knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
