The Holy Child Gryphons's four-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Monday. They walked away with a 43-36 victory over Greenwich Academy. The victory was just what Holy Child needed coming off of a 58-29 defeat in their prior match.
Holy Child's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alessia Paladino led the charge by scoring 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Paladino has scored all season. Sophia Concepcion was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Holy Child's win bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Greenwich Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Holy Child will take on Thayer Academy in a holiday battle at 5:30 p.m. on Friday at. Greenwich Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Rye Country Day at 4:00 p.m. on January 31, 2024.
