Trinity Christian Academy has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Trinity Christian Academy: 14.4, Clearwater Central Catholic: 14.8) so any points scored will be well earned.
With a playoff game on the line, Trinity Christian Academy rose to the challenge on Friday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 48-20 victory over the Warriors. Trinity Christian Academy might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won five games by 25 points or more this season.
Trinity Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cameron Anderson, who rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. Anderson really tore up the turf during one magnificent 81-yard run. Darnell Rogers also helped out as he racked up 134 rushing yards.
Meanwhile, Clearwater Central Catholic put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They secured a 45-41 W over Carrollwood Day. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
It was another big night for Jershaun Newton, who rushed for 164 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 295 yards and a touchdown while picking up 12.8 yards per attempt. Clearwater Central Catholic also got help from Caleb Goodloe who showed off his sure hands for 159 receiving yards.
Clearwater Central Catholic's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Carrollwood Day's QB won't forget Newton anytime soon given Newton sacked him twice.
Trinity Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Clearwater Central Catholic, they pushed their record up to 12-0 with that victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.
