The Exeter-West Greenwich Scarlet Knights will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Lincoln School Lynx at 6:00 p.m. Exeter-West Greenwich will be looking to keep their nine-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Exeter-West Greenwich pushed their score all the way to 55 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 63-55 to Central Falls. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Exeter-West Greenwich came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Rhode Island basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Warriors are ranked 30th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Kate Hebert, who scored 21 points along with two steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Emma Mears, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Lincoln School also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to the Warriors by a score of 44-31. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lincoln School has scored all season.
Lincoln School's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Reign Whiteing, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds, and Sarah Berube who scored eight points. Whiteing hasn't dropped below two blocks for six straight games.
Exeter-West Greenwich's loss dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Lincoln School, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Exeter-West Greenwich haven't given up the ball easily this season, having only averaged 9.6 turnovers per game. However, it's not like Lincoln School struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 7.2 turnovers per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
