Verdigris's Tanner Smith recorded the longest rushing play in 3A District 5 this season in his game against Metro Christian last week. Smith scampered for 54 yards on the play and finished with 157 on the day as his team defeated the Patriots.
Berryhill extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Sequoyah, 17-14. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
Casey Holcomb put up the best numbers through the air as Sperry fell to Sequoyah. He finished with five completions for 107 yards and one touchdown. Holcomb's favorite target this week was C.J. Gilbert, who caught two passes for 68 yards.
Chase Carver provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Dewey defeated Blackwell. He completed two passes for 30 yards and also ran for 137 yards. Carver's favorite target this week was C.J. Coolbaugh, who caught one pass for 18 yards.
Ryan Hurd was the best wideout in the league this week as Verdigris bested Metro Christian. Hurd tallied one reception for 80 yards. Chase Bryant helped Verdigris' passing attack out by catching one ball for 13 yards.
Berryhill's Zach Jackson and JUSTIN JACKSON have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 3A District 5 in both passing and receiving yards. Jackson has thrown for 842 yards this season, while JACKSON has 31 catches for 398 yards. Dan Nickles' team's Smith leads the league in rushing yards with 1458.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Eagles take on the Cardinals. Sequoyah is currently in fourth, while Verdigris is in second.
Pat Harper's team suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after topping Jody Iams' team. The Chiefs had been ranked 19th, but fell to 26.
