Southeast is 9-1 against the Grizzlies since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Southeast Golden Buffalo will look to defend their home court against the Northwest Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. Northwest took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Southeast, who comes in off a win.
Southeast had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They managed a 60-55 win over North. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Alana Webb continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 37 points and ten steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Southeast's points. Leela Jones was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Northwest was the victim of a rough 70-47 defeat at the hands of the Golden Eagles on Friday. While losing is never fun, Northwest can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 228th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 39th).
Southeast's win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Northwest, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.
Southeast didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Grizzlies in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 63-57 win. Will Southeast repeat their success, or do the Grizzlies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
