After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Valley View, the Carbondale Area Chargers were happy to have found some success on Friday. They snuck past Mid Valley with a 50-45 win. For Carbondale Area, this counts as revenge for the 63-42 loss Mid Valley walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Mid Valley's loss came despite strong showings from Demaja Dunston and Richard Vinansky. Dunston scored 15 points along with three steals, while Vinansky scored 14 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Jakob Lesher, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Carbondale Area's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Mid Valley, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-4.
Carbondale Area will head out on the road to face off against Lakeland at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Lakeland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 533rd, while Carbondale Area is ranked 214th). As for Mid Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Holy Cross at 7:15 p.m. Holy Cross is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
