At the plate, Jane Stanley was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Zaina Gilbert was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Flint Hill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, St. Catherine's had already won 12 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it 13 on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 25-1 victory. The Saints' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Kinnady Branch was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. St. Catherine's win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Flint Hill, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Flint Hill hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .345. However, it's not like St. Catherine's struggles in that department as they've averaged .381. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Flint Hill came up short against St. Catherine's when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 5-0. Can the Huskies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
