It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Pinecrest Patriots ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They managed a 59-53 victory over Lee County. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Pinecrest.
Zanodiya Mcnair continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 24 points along with three steals. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Aniya Mcgregor was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Lee County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kelyce Mcswain. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 22 points and 21 rebounds. That was a full 41.5% of Lee County's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Gillian Garrison, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and six steals.
Even though they lost, Lee County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Pinecrest has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-8 record this season. As for Lee County, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.
Pinecrest will face off against South Mecklenburg at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. South Mecklenburg presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Pinecrest in North Carolina (South Mecklenburg is ranked 150th, while Pinecrest is ranked 355th). Lee County's road trip will continue as they head out to face Richmond at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th.
