After flying high against the Meadow Heights Panthers last Tuesday, the Oak Ridge Blue Jays came back down to earth. Oak Ridge was outmatched by Saxony Lutheran on the road and fell 71-41. Oak Ridge was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-18.
Luke Eggemeyer was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 14 rebounds for Saxony Lutheran. Eggemeyer has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last 19 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Bucheit, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Oak Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Saxony Lutheran, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season.
Oak Ridge will be playing in front of their home fans against Bell City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Saxony Lutheran, they will head out on the road to take on Greenville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
