If the Elkhorn South Storm were feeling good off their 75-27 takedown of the Buena Vista Bison last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Elkhorn South took a 77-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of Omaha Central on Tuesday. Elkhorn South has not had much luck with Omaha Central recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Elkhorn South's loss came despite strong showings from Mollie Probasco and Alexa Eddie. Probasco scored 23 points, while Eddie scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Eddie has scored all season. Rowan Swartz was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Omaha Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Inia Jones, who scored 21 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. Jones hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Lilliana Petersen, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds.
Elkhorn South's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-7. As for Omaha Central, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-2.
Elkhorn South will look to defend their home court on Friday against Bryan at 5:30 p.m. Bryan comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 11 points in their last nine games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. Omaha Central on the road again on Friday and play against Papillion-LaVista South at 5:30 p.m. on January 19th. Papillion-LaVista South will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
