The Charleston Tigers are on the road again on Friday and play against the Heidelberg Oilers at 7:00 p.m. on December 1st. Charleston has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 334 points over their last eight contests.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Charleston had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past the Yellowjackets 40-14. The result was nothing new for Charleston, who have now won nine matches by 26 points or more so far this season.
Charleston's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Deondre Riley, who picked up 159 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Flowers jr, who rushed for 129 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Heidelberg came tearing into Friday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 16-6 victory over Raleigh.
The critical scores for Heidelberg came from Chase Craft and Javier Bramlett.
Heidelberg's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB five times. Launzae Nicholson was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.
Their wins bumped Charleston to 12-2 and Union to 12-2.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Charleston has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 187.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Heidelberg struggles in that department as they've been even better at 221.2 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
