The Oneida Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Clarkrange Buffaloes at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Oneida knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Clarkrange likes a good challenge.
Last Tuesday, Oneida got the win against Coalfield by a conclusive 73-49. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 43-21.
Grady Keeton and Mason Keeton were among the main playmakers for Oneida as the former scored 11 points along with 9 rebounds and the latter scored 18 points along with 5 rebounds. The contest was Keeton's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Brawner, who scored 8 points along with 6 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Clarkrange pushed their score all the way to 67 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 72-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cumberland County.
Despite the loss, Clarkrange got a solid performance out of Jack Cordell, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 10 rebounds. Cordell scored a full 43.3% of Clarkrange's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Bryton Swallows was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 5 rebounds.
Oneida's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Clarkrange, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-1.
Thursday's match is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Oneida have been dynamite from deep this season, having drained 47.5% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Clarkrange struggles in that department as they've nailed 48.3% of theirs this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Everything came up roses for Oneida against Clarkrange in their previous matchup back in January as the team secured a 79-40 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Oneida since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
