The Laurel Spartans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Parkdale Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Laurel's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches.
Last Friday, Laurel strolled past Suitland with points to spare, taking the game 68-51.
Laurel's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Christian Brown led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Brown also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jermaine Taylor, who scored 20 points along with three steals.
Parkdale won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Monday. They were outmatched by Wise at home and fell 91-48. While losing is never fun, Parkdale can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 240th, while Wise is ranked 44th).
Jacob Wilson put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Richards, who scored 15 points.
Laurel's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Parkdale, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.
Laurel came out on top in a nail-biter against Parkdale in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, sneaking past 57-55. Will Laurel repeat their success, or does Parkdale have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
