Softball Recap: Hoover Snags 15th Win in Last 18 Games

Hoover posted their closest win since April 6, 2024 on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Shady Spring Tigers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in March.

Hannah Shamblin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 21 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hoover saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayley Carper, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.

Hoover is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 18 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Shady Spring, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 11-9 record.

Coming up, Hoover will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Ripley at 6:00 p.m. Shady Spring does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
