The Morrill Lions scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They breezed by Bayard on the road to the tune of 63-31. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Morrill has posted yet this season.
Pittman Ashwin was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Hayward, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and five steals.
Despite the loss, Bayard still got an impressive performance from Joe Hopkins, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Even though they lost, Bayard smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Morrill is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Bayard, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.
Morrill will be playing in front of their home fans against Minatare at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bayard, they will head out on the road to challenge Leyton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Leyton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 last Saturday.
