Little Kanawha recap Oct. 23, 2012
St. Marys extended the longest winning streak in Little Kanawha this week by beating South Harrison, 39-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Wirt County took down Calhoun 55-12 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Doddridge County's dynamic duo of David Lipscomb and Jarrod Sandy proved tough for Valley to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Lipscomb threw for 112 yards and one touchdown and Sandy had 100 yards receiving. Daniel Plaugher helped Doddridge County's passing attack out by catching two balls for 12 yards.
David Gray was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 137 yards on 14 carries as St. Marys topped the Jacks. Teammate Derek Barnhart added to the ground attack by rushing for 76 yards.
Andrew Cosper provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Blue Devils beat the Hawks. He completed four passes for 85 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 70 yards. Cosper's favorite target this week was Johnny Riggs, who caught two passes for 53 yards.
5-foot-11 quarterback Joshua Trembly of the Tigers is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1400. He has also thrown 10 touchdowns. On the ground, Doddridge County's Wyatt Ford has rushed for 948 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is DYLAN FRYE. The Ritchie County star has 27 catches for 438 yards.
A big matchup in Little Kanawha this week will be when Wirt County takes on Roane County. Jason Hickman's team is currently in second, while the Raiders are in fifth.
Clay County made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,584 from 10,331. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 33-7 victory over Ravenswood last week.
