On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kendall Morris, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one double. That home run was his first of the season. Carter Verdeyen was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 9-5.
Marcus Otto and Calahan Binion were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Otto struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Binion tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the most strikeouts Otto has posted since back in April of 2024. At bat, Otto scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4, while Binion scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Otto has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.
In other batting news, Maddix Stirrett and Will Hilligoss did most of the damage at the plate: Stirrett scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Hilligoss scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. Hilligoss is becoming a predictor of Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 0-4 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Logan Schrock, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg was able to grind out a solid win over Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, winning 5-1.
