It was a good run, but the Tooele Buffaloes unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 43-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bear River. Tooele has struggled against Bear River recently, as their match on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Tooele's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kennedy Searle, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. The contest was Searle's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Josie Kennedy, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Leading Bear River to victory were Angelie Delgado and Brooklyn Capener. Delgado scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Capener scored six points along with six rebounds and three steals. Delgado has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelby Wilkinson, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Tooele's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-4. As for Bear River, they pushed their record up to 3-6 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.
Tooele will head out on the road to face off against Orem at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Orem is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. Bear River won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Ogden at 7:00 p.m. on December 29th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Ogden is ranked 106th, while Bear River is ranked 112th).
