The Elgin/Pope John Wolfpack put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Madison on the road to the tune of 63-24. Considering Elgin/Pope John has won six matches by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Elgin/Pope John's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sara Bode led the charge by scoring 12 points. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Keyera Eisenhauer, who scored 12 points.
Elgin/Pope John's win bumped their record up to 10-0. As for Madison, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Elgin/Pope John and St. Mary's will face off at 5:00 p.m. on January 4th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. St. Mary's is on a three-game streak of home wins, Elgin/Pope John a 11-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Madison and Winside will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Winside focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Saturday.
