Basketball Recap: Community Leadership Academy Beats Valwood for Their Fifth Straight Win

Community Leadership Academy entered their tilt with Valwood on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They came out on top against the Valwood Valiants by a score of 71-58. This was a revenge game for the Lions: when they faced off against the Valiants back in November of 2024, they had to take a 64-55 defeat.

Community Leadership Academy had a senior duo take command as Bowman Holloway dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 boards and Owen Brown almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. Brown's morning made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Ivarson, who posted nine points.

Community Leadership Academy's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Valwood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Community Leadership Academy Lions challenge the Munroe Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Community Leadership Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Munroe likes a good challenge. As for Valwood, they will take on Brookwood at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Brookwood will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Valwood surely won't give up without a fight.
