The Winter Haven Blue Devils will head out on the road to take on the Edgewater Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Winter Haven will be looking to extend their current 16-game winning streak.
Last Monday, Winter Haven faced Orlando Christian Prep in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Winter Haven came out on top against Orlando Christian Prep by a score of 61-54. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Winter Haven has scored all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Winter Haven to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jamie Phillips jr, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Phillips jr has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Cezanne Mosley, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds.
Edgewater posted their closest victory yet this season on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Northeast and snuck past 67-64. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Winter Haven's victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-1. As for Edgewater, their victory bumped their record up to 15-3.
Winter Haven beat Edgewater 68-60 in their previous meeting back in February of 2022. Does Winter Haven have another victory up their sleeve, or will Edgewater turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
