On Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Covenant Christian beat Breckenridge 50-44.
Leading Covenant Christian to victory were Alani Owens and Keeley Chaddick. Owens scored 15 points along with 7 assists and 5 rebounds, while Chaddick dropped a double-double on 25 points and 10 rebounds. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which Owens has scored at least 25% of Covenant Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Ely Matthews, who scored 4 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 blocks.
Breckenridge's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Zaea Ragle, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Ragle scored a full 36.4% of Breckenridge's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaysi Wilcox, who scored 13 points.
Covenant Christian has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-7 record this season. As for Breckenridge, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Covenant Christian will take on China Spring at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Breckenridge, they will be playing at home against Millsap at 6:15 a.m. on Tuesday.
