Mercer is a perfect 7-0 against Lac Courte Oreilles since October of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Mercer is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
On Monday, Mercer came up short against Hurley and fell 3-1.
Mercer started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-20, 26-24, 26-24.
Despite their loss, Mercer saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kacee Chaney, who had 14 kills, three digs, three aces, and one block, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Ryley Saarnio, who had seven kills, seven digs, three blocks, and two aces.
Lac Courte Oreilles had taken Bayfield down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Thursday. The Eagles took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trollers.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 22-25, 25-18, 25-21.
Mercer's defeat dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Lac Courte Oreilles, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
Mercer took their win against Lac Courte Oreilles when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
