Hamilton has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Kirby Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hamilton has insisted on making their lastfive contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-3 during that stretch of close contests.
Hamilton suffered their closest loss since November 22, 2023 on Monday. They fell just short of Melrose by a score of 70-67. That's two games in a row now that Hamilton has lost by exactly three points.
Despite the defeat, Hamilton had strong showings from Timothy Matthews, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks, and Devan McGee, who scored 26 points along with six rebounds. Matthews hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Rodney Mcneal was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, Kirby's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. They took a 89-78 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ridgeway. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (66), Kirby still had to take the loss.
Hamilton's defeat dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Kirby, they dropped their record down to 5-14 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
Hamilton came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cougars in their previous matchup last Wednesday, sneaking past 60-57. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hamilton since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
