Byron is 2-8 against Winnebago since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Indians at 4:30 p.m. Byron will be strutting in after a win while Winnebago will be coming in after a defeat.
Byron will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run last Monday, then bounced right back against Lutheran on Tuesday. The Tigers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Crusaders a 10-0 shutout. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Crusaders recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Lutheran's batters probably weren't too happy with Myla Draheim, who pitched a no hitter and racked up nine Ks (she gave up zero walks). Draheim has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jaidra Poe was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gina Baker, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Winnebago unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They fell 8-5 to North Boone.
Vern Gilley-Amdal put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed over her last seven games. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Sammi Falnes was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs.
Byron picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 5-10. As for Winnebago, they now have a losing record of 11-12.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Byron has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Winnebago struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Byron suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Winnebago in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
