If Apex was feeling good  off their  14-3 takedown of Green Hope last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Apex Cougars lost  12-6 to the Holly Springs Golden Hawks on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Apex of the  8-7 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in April.
 Apex saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Alyssa Kaufman, who  scored a  run while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was  Leah Kendall, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 2-for-4.
 On Holly Springs' side,  McKenzie Collins and  Kendall Wallace made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound,  Collins   tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off   four  hits. Meanwhile,  Wallace   tossed 2.2 innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   five  hits. At the plate,  Collins  went 3-for-4 with three  runs, a  triple,  and two  RBI, while  Wallace  scored two  runs while going 3-for-4.
 In other batting news,  Andie Ackles was  incredible,  going 2-for-4 with two  triples, three  runs,  and  an  RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of  Ella Poulk, who  went 2-for-4 with two  triples, a  run,  and  an  RBI.
 Apex has  traveled a rocky road recently having  lost four of their last five matchups,  which put a noticeable dent in their 13-9 record  this season. As for Holly Springs, the  win was  the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-7.
