If the East Lake Eagles were feeling good off their 61-33 takedown of the Pinellas Park Patriots last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. East Lake was dealt a 56-25 loss at the hands of Clearwater on Wednesday. Having soared to a lofty 61 points in the game before, East Lake couldn't push the score so high this time.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Clearwater to victory, but perhaps none more so than Pink Sturdivant, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Quenya Turner, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
East Lake's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Clearwater, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Lake will challenge Keswick Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Keswick Christian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than East Lake in Florida (Keswick Christian is ranked 68th, while East Lake is ranked 270th). Clearwater will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Countryside at 7:45 p.m. on January 23rd.
