Anela Kinnevey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Audrina Camacho and Lily Hiraoka did most of the damage at the plate: Camacho went 3-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double, while Hiraoka scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4. Camacho has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Xochitl Frias, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: JW North kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Liberty). Everything went their way against Apple Valley on Tuesday as Liberty made off with a 16-5 victory. The Bison might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by nine runs or more this season.
Janessa Guigliano tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season.
At the plate, Cameryn Rutkoff was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Attiana Thompson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
JW North's record is now 6-4. As for Liberty, their record is now 4-5.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. JW North hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .423. However, it's not like Liberty struggles in that department as they've averaged .359. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
JW North came up short against Liberty when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 9-6. Can JW North avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
