The Lansdowne Vikings will head out on the road to challenge the Kenwood Bluebirds at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Lansdowne took a loss when they played away from home back in March, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They came out on top against Dundalk by a score of 10-7. The win continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Owls: they've now won three in a row.
David Eastlake was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Eastlake was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That run was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Derek Ervin, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Derrick Bachman was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Lansdowne always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Kenwood came out on top against Patapsco on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run second inning. The Bluebirds blew past the Patriots 17-1. The Bluebirds' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Carter Pugh was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kasen Wickline, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.
Kenwood's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Lansdowne, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.
Lansdowne couldn't quite finish off Kenwood when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 5-3. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
