After two games on the road, Clear Spring is heading back home. They and the Brunswick Railroaders will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
After soaring to 62 points the game before, Clear Spring were a bit more limited in their match on Tuesday. They were dealt a 55-23 defeat at the hands of Catoctin. While losing is never fun, Clear Spring can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 173rd, while the Cougars are ranked 27th).
Meanwhile, Brunswick's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight defeat. They fell 42-33 to Walkersville. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Brunswick in their matchups with the Lions: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the defeat, Brunswick got a solid performance out of Andie Welsh, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 18 rebounds. Welsh is crushing the block category: she's posted at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Maddy Hoffman was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals.
Clear Spring's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Brunswick, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season.
Clear Spring didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Railroaders in their previous matchup on Monday, but they still walked away with a 62-57 victory. Does Clear Spring have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Railroaders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
