It was a good run, but the St. Mary's Knights unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 67-55 to Mountain Lake/Comfrey. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, St. Mary's still got an impressive performance from Will Walter, who scored 32 points along with eight rebounds. Walter is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 20 or more in the last 15 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of George Schwint, who scored seven points along with 14 rebounds.
St. Mary's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-5. As for Mountain Lake/Comfrey, they pushed their record up to 14-1 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home.
St. Mary's will head out on the road to take on the Chargers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Minnesota (Minnesota Valley Lutheran is ranked 116th, while the Knights are ranked 135th). As for Mountain Lake/Comfrey, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Rebels at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd.
