Cathedral Catholic and Christian are an even 3-3 against one another since May of 2024, but likely not for long. The Dons will take on the Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Cathedral Catholic will be strutting in after a victory while Christian will be coming in after a defeat.
Cathedral Catholic was handed a nine-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past Scripps Ranch 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Dons have posted since March 28, 2025.

Nia Talataina was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Kaitlyn Hemmert also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Christian was a bit more limited in their matchup on Wednesday. They fell just short of Scripps Ranch by a score of 3-2.
Christian also got a good showing from Ava Barrios, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Barrios gave up only zero walks, the fewest she's had since back in June of 2025.
The victory got Cathedral Catholic back to even at 11-11. As for Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-13-1 record this season.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Cathedral Catholic hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Cathedral Catholic was able to grind out a solid win over Christian when the teams last played two weeks ago, winning 8-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
